Wanting to do more work which reflects my heritage, and seeing my heritage in fantasy, I created a scene inspired by traditional architecture and floating lanterns. For this, I used bump, specularity and alpha maps.

Environment for Ms. Scheele's Mystery Manor; 2.5D Cosmic Horror murder mystery. A game for my current capstone project, which I am responsible for character art and environment art.

By using geometry nodes in Blender, I'm able to populate a scene with premade assets, randomly adjusting rotation, scale and placement within a set area.
The ground was created with several displacement maps, and then weight-painted to determine where the corals will go. The premade assets are some branching corals, staghorn corals and procedurally generated brain coral (therefore not reflective of the real animal, but practiced to demonstrate this exercise) |
